The Let’s Talk SPOT THE DIFFERENCE Cards are designed for children

What age can the children be? Various ages! There are students who, at the age of 8, will already be able to use the cards—it depends on their language proficiency.

One of the coolest things about the SPOT THE DIFFERENCE cards is that you can use them with students of different ages—some younger ones can describe the pictures and look for differences, while older ones can additionally answer questions or create their own.

The cards are prepared for English teachers but can also be used by teachers of other languages. Students can compare or describe the prepared pictures in different languages. For each topic, students can prepare their own set of questions. The teacher's assistance will then be essential, but it’s important to let students unleash their imagination and creativity.

In addition to developing vocabulary, the SPOT THE DIFFERENCE cards also practice various grammatical structures in English, such as:

To be

Have got

Present Continuous

Singular/Plural

Prepositions of place

There is/there are

This doesn’t mean that other structures won’t appear during the "study" of the pictures.

The card with "possible answers" serves as a guide for the teacher while students describe the pictures. If students work in pairs, one student can compare the pictures, while the other looks at the "possible answers" and checks if all differences have been noticed.

On the SPEAKING cards, some questions include hints to guide the student if they have no ideas for their responses.

The SPOT THE DIFFERENCE cards can be used as an introduction to a topic. We show students the pictures, compare them, and then explain that we will be covering this topic in the upcoming lessons.

The SPOT THE DIFFERENCE cards can also be used as a summary of the lesson or to reinforce vocabulary.

And another way: they can also be used as a warm-up when we want to “get our students talking,” for example, at the beginning of the lesson.
